I stayed in this hotel 9 years ago and adored it.
I see from the posts that it has been renovated...are there any old standard and superior rooms left? I recall a huge bedroom with an antiquated bathroom, reminiscent of an 1950's English country house. There were huge terrasses overlooking the Indian Ocean with breakers crashing in... I want to go back , but I fear what I will find...Has anyone up to date information on this hotel, please? THANK YOU. |

Hi Margaret,
Don't worry. Almost all of the old stuff is still there in what they now call the 'classic wing'. Almost all of the renovation went into the new Regency wing which is 5-star and room prices almost double of that in the classic wing. All the best, <Erik> & [Sandya]

OH WOW!! I just joined VT today and just now finished writing my recommendation of the GFH!! I have stayed there many times over the past 33 yrs. and am SO HAPPY that their upgrading and renovations have kept the same old charm, etc. I stayed for the month of November (2007) in the new wing and could not have been happier.
