I'm trying to find the times for the races in summer next year. The main event sems to be in May/June, but I remember something about a second race later in the year. The official Isle of Man website seems to be stuck on October 2007, so until this is fixed I can't get any information there.
Does anybody know if there is another racing event in August 2008? I'm not interested in racing, and I would prefer to avoid it. Also, from what I've heard accomodation is more expensive then, which is another reason to avoid these dates.

The Manx GP Meeting is a non-professional version of the TT and it usually the last two weeks of August.

Try the Isle of Man from about the third week in June to the 2nd week in August for the best weather and none of those pesky troublemaking biker types to ruin your holiday. ;)

I thought the TT Races was perhaps the only race left where an Amateur can enter - and i think this is what all the debate has been about over recent years - because of people dying etc and people trying to ban it
My view is that is that iit is a matter of choice - ie the same with boxing (people want to ban this too - and much less deaths perhaps)

On this thing in August - forgive my ignorance but i did not it was related to TT - i was here to watch once Sidecars racing and it was some spectable - especially how quickly they go from somebody running at back and jumping on - to goodness knows what speed - 210 or something - but when these things pass you you think the whole earth is vibrating - whne what in fact is actually happenign - is the disturbance in your eardrums

Final note; - I dont think the thin in August is a big deal like the TT - and there are also many places to stay in Isle of Man outside Douglas

The Manx Grand Prix is held in August every year (dates this year are 16/08 to 29/08) and is on the asme track as the TT. It is not as popular or famous as the TT so does attract such a big crowd. It is however still as enjoyable to watch and the weather can be as good or as bad as it is in the Uk around this time of year, August usually isn't so bad. Tghere are various rules that cover both the TT and the GP.

Perhaps non-professional was the over simplifying it but at the Manx GP you won't get the full works teams and you won't see 130+ mph laps being ridden.
