| Puerto Madryn | Puerto Madryn hotel recommendation Posted: Sun November 4, 2007 09:31 PM UTC
Perhaps my research is poorly done, but it seems that good quality + value hotels are hard to find in the Peninsula Valdes area. Any advice on favorite hotels in roughly the US$ 100-150 range for a week mid-November would be appreciated.
The Hotel Territorio looks superb at $250/night!! I tried Dilos for a resv at Bahia Nueva, but the reply was negative. |

I visited Madryn recently. Territorio looks nice, but it was quite far from downtown. I stayed at the Australis Yene Hue, 4*, nice, well located, some cheap SPA services but I found not schedule when requested.
At night you should try El Nautico: excelent price-Performance restaurant. Do not miss the Toninas Panda I do not know if there is a site in English: http://www.enpuertorawson.com.ar/ From outside, Bahia Nueva 3* looked fine. If you would stay a week long I may suggest: 1) to stay some days at downtown at some of those or other hotels 2) Stay some nights at a farm. I made some excursions with people form www.sentir-patagonia.com.ar ventas@sentir-patagonia.com.ar They provide good service and they also have a hotel in a farm. I just look to some photos and looked interesting for my next trip to Madryn 3) Perhap stay a night at Las Restingas, a beatifull boutique hotel in Puerto Piramides. We did the sunset whale watching (from 18PM to 20PM) at that time there is not any way to go back to Pueto Madryn. I visited that hotel and is lovely. If you save in other hotels you may spend a little bit here. www.lasrestingas.com Perhaps this site may help http://www.welcomeargentina.com/puertomadryn/index_i.html The people from Sentir Patagonia may help to make reservations. I dislike to make reccomendations, but they keeped their word and I felt this veery important. The owners have worked in International hotels in Miami and move back to home.

Gabriel,
Thank you so much for your Pen. Valdes briefing - MOST helpful! I'm researching Las Restingas as I write. Any thoughts on Piren Hotel? Trip Advisor reviews were good: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g312832 Ciao

Sorry, but I just visited Puerto Madryn recently and then just wrote what I saw. Perhaps you may get in touch with an agency and the decide.
You may try http://www.welcomeargentina.com/puertomadryn/index_i.html as well. You should consider that you should arrange at least those full day excursions: 1) Peninsula Valdes, including whale watching. The problem I found is that whale watching at sunset is wanderful, but no excursion yet. I am leaving, so I could not respond, but Whales are leaving that area at present. 2) Punta Tombo. You have two flavors, with panda dolphins (toninas) or Trelew. I enjoyed both. Trelew is not a nice city to go, but it has a wanderfull Museum with dinosaurs. Remember that Patagonia was a land of them. Perhaps you may arrange a visit close to your flights (since the Airport is in Trelew). You should have some back up time for weather conditions. You should be prepared for nature: animals will not be waiting for you to come to start the stage. They just live as they do and you will see depending on the conditions you get when you go. I am not sure that picking up hotels and excursions separatelly will give you a better price than a package. But you may ask and compare.

Gabriel,
Thank you again -- your personal observations are extremely valuable to us. We certainly agree with your advice that wildlife does not keep appointments! For some examples, please see our website for humpback whales breaching next to our yacht ADAGIO: http://www.adagiomarine.com/year2005/humpback_whales/index.html Cheers, Steve
