Would appreciate a recommendation for swimming along the Gold Coast. Would like to spend a few days in Brisbane and then along the Gold Coast for a few days. Will using public transportation, so having hotel, restarurants etc nearby is necessary.

The obvious place is Surfers Paradise, where the beach is across the road from all the amenities you want.

I would think just about every beach has what you're looking for.
Burleigh, Mermaid, Coolangatta, Currumbin, Broadbeach and Surfers just to name a few. They're all reliant on tourists so all have accommodation and restaurants. Cheers.
