| David | Travel from David to Almirante Posted: Sat November 3, 2007 06:52 PM UTC
We need to buy 3 weeks of groceries/provisions for 5 people from the Price Smart in David and then get them to Almirante to water-taxi to Bocas Del Toro. How long does it take to drive? If we had to rent a car is that possible to rent one-way and drop of at Almirante. Is there other ways to transport these provisions from David to Almirante - I don't think taking a bus will work. I understand it's about a 4.5 hour drive. Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any porter/delivery services that would shop for us and deliver provisions to us at Bocas Del Toro?

The bus is not too bad and you can bring a lot of stuff with you. the driver will secure it to the roof or store it with the luggage (I've seen people with incredible amount of stuff). It's true...the bus takes ages compared to a private car. Why don't you contact Price Smart? They may have a delivery service... Renting a car may be a good idea, but I think that, in case you can get it in David and leave it in Almirante, it's going to cost a lot.
Another thing you can do (expecially if you are going to do this more than once) is to go to David and ask a quotation for this service to several taxi drivers... Well, have a nice stay in Bocas! Really nice place, even though I prefer the Pacific side! ;) Elisa
