To get to the gate? I think you can walk to the end of the runway! :)

If memory serves me right, the "airport" is right at the gate, but you drive out the opposite side of the airport (away from the animals and then keep left to go around the bottom end of the runway to get to the gate.

Good day,
To get from the airport to the gate should be no problem, Phalabora is very small.
June is a very good time of the year to visit the Park. Temperatures are moderate, and is is easier to spot game, as the winter vegetation allows easier viewing.

You are staying at Olifant Camp, which I think is one of the best to stay at.

You can do a lot in the Park, mostly driving to nearby camps etc
This is the official website of South African National Parks, including Kruger.
I don't think visa cards should be a problem at all.

You are only allowed to self-drive between sunrise and sunset. If you want to do night-drives with the parks own rangers, you have to reserve them months in advance. Now would not be too soon.

We were in Kruger in May of 2004 and it was very nice during the day. Shorts or slacks were fine. But at night and early in the morning, long pants, sweaters, light jackets and hats were essential. I would imagine that June would be somewhat cooler still. May was not a busy time for Kruger and we did not need to reserve our spots on the game drives at all. It was only necessary to show up the night before to reserve a spot for the next morning's drive and a couple of times for the night drives, we showed up only minutes before the tour left with no reservation at all, and we got right in. I highly recommend the game drives as well as the organized walks at sunrise and sunset. You will also be able to self drive during the day. We saw so many fascinating critters while self driving, but it was also good to get information from the guides on the night and morning tours. We stayed at a different camp every night and covered a lot of ground that way - again, no reservations needed at that time of year. I think I would do it the same way if/when we go back (and I sure hope we can!). Oh yes, all major credit cards are accepted at Kruger.

Be sure to bring along layers. It cools off quicly at night and starts off cool during the early morning. Also, not sure what airline you are flying, but hope it's not Nelair. A would absolutely advise avoiding them at all costs. Our experience with them was horrible!

"Worldguy" when did you, as a local, use Nelair and what was so horrible about them.

You will need to consider in "what to pack" whether you would like to take malaria prophylactics or not. June is a low risk time, and you might be fine wearing long sleeves and long pants in the evenings. Mosquitoes are also attracted to odour, so a quick shower before dusk often does wonders in preventing being bitten. Pack an insect repellant.
