| Tel Aviv-Yafo | First time to israel.... Posted: Fri November 2, 2007 07:48 PM UTC
Sorry for bothering everybody. I'm going to Israel alone on 6th Nov 07 from Hong Kong and will arrive at Ben-Gurion airport at 22:00 LT. I'm planning to stay in Tel Aviv for two nights n then go to Jerusalem for 6 nights. Here are my questions regarding the journey:
1. I just found out that Bus 222 which travels from the airport to Tel Aviv is closed temporarily(out of my expectation). Is there any other bus going to Tel AViv?? 2. If I'm going to take the train, which station should I stop? I will stay in Bell hotel which is located in Allenby St. 3. Which bus should I take to go to the Central Bus Station? 4. Is Bethlehem a safe to visit? I may go to Bethlehem from Jerusalem, is Arab bus 22 heading to Bethlehem directly? 5. In Jersualem I will stay in Jerusalem Inn Hotel which is located in Horkanos St. How long does it take to walk from hotel to the old city, say Jaffa Gate? Or if I take the bus, what route no? 6. What do u suggest to do on Friday night? Sorry for so many questions but I hope u can understand my anxious. |

Welcome !
5. From Horkanos St. to Jaffa Gate you need approx 10 minutes by foot: go to Jaffa St. - easy to find, it's the main road of western Jerusalem - turn left - east direction, after 500m you see the Wall of the Old city. cross the traffic lights of HaTzanhanim - Shlomo Hamelech Str and go along the promenade to Jaffa gate. You can't miss it.

Suggestion for Friday evening-night:
Attend a Saturday meal [we call it 'seudat shabath', in Hebrew] in Jewish religious family's home, in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City. Go to one of the synagogues there and ask the rabby to find you a volunteering family.

hi there
1st of all : Welcome to Israel It's a great country to travel in regarding your questions here are my replies: 1+2+3 You can take bus # 475 from the airport to TEL AVIV central bus station and from there another internal bus to Alenby but I think that the train is better you can take it to Arlozerov train station in Tel aviv and from there you have many buses also to Alenby st. 6. If you'll be in Tel aviv I can recommend some places about Jerusalem... I don't know but I can find out for you since I have a friend there. just let me know where you want to go out. Are you going also to Eilat, Dead sea or to the north? Have a great time Liat

You have several options, but the simplest I can think of is to take the train to "Ha-Shalom" train station in Tel-Aviv and from there take bus number 63 to Allenby street. You will find the bus stop on "Begin road", one the other side the shopping mall next to the train station. From the train station you can go directly into the "Azrielli mall" and then get out and cross the street. The bus will take to abou 20 meters away from the hotel.
To get from the hotel area to the bus central station you can one of several buses. Like 30, 31, or any of the other 30 something buses. Or, you can walk 200 hundreds meters to the east on Allenby street and get bus number 4.

i gues that leaves only question 4 for me to answer.
Bethlehem is a safe place to visit, but ofcourse check the latest news befor you go. Sherut 22 is leaving from the bus station on Suleyman street, just outside Damascus Gate to the right. It should take you to the Wall and from there you should be able to take a taxi to the centre for about 15 shekels. When I went there 2 years ago, the main entry to Bethelehem was closed and I went with sherut 21 to Beit Jalla and took a taxi from there. http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/905f9/1c7d0d/9/ have a nice trip jacob

Refer to previous answer...
I would like to ask, u said take bus 22 to the Wall, what Wall do u mean? Is there a wall surrounding Bethlehem? Can I just walk from the "wall" to the church of nativity?

There is a wall between Israel and the Palestinian territories.
