Isle of Skye indecisive!
Posted: Fri November 2, 2007 04:25 PM UTC
Hi I'm doing a 10 day trip around scotland in January (cold I know)
10 days is not enough I know, as theres so many places I want to go
I arrive in Edinburgh jan 18th then Inverness 20th
and I need to be Tobermory on the 25th early as I'm organising a suprise birthday for my girlfriend

my problem is I've got only three days to split between Isle of Skye and Loch Lomond
I was wondering which of the two I could see in one day

or should I just scrap Inverness and spend two days in both

any information gratfully recieved
thank you

Although personal, we liked Isle of Skye very much. If we had know in advance we had scrapped Inverness (nothing spectacular).
Specially because you have to be in Tobermory I would recommend staying in the more western part of the Highlands, otherwise you will have to travel a lot.

happy travels
Jaap

We did Edinburgh, to Inverness, to Ullapool, to Gairloch and then to Skye in September. The Quirangs outside of Portree were amazing to hike through. Portree is a great town and just before you take the bridge over to the Isle of Skye you have the Eileen Donan Castle. I would have like to spend more time in Portree, but we did hit some of the small towns when some of the local traditional musicians were jamming...pipes, fiddle, guitar, drum, and that was really cool. Outside of Gairloch there are fantastic 1/2 day coastal walks, espeically by the lighthouse. Can't help you with Loch Lomand, but there was a recent thread here on VT regarding day trips.
