Hi!
I just answer part of your question, hopefully other will answer the rest. 4d3n trip should be enough to cover Kuching and its surrounding. Apart frm the sights within the city, you could also make day trip to Bako National Park and 1/2 day trip to Sarawak Cultural Village (a must visit for first timers) or Semengoh Orang Utan rehabilation centre. Somerset is within the city area itself, abt 20mins drive frm the airport. You can go to the waterfront area for meals. Do try mee kolok & laksa sarawak while in the city. -m-

The Cutural Village is a must. The Hotel front office staff can arrange for transpot (a van).

We were in Kuching in mid September for 3D/2N so we had even less time. Anyway, places to see have been recommended by the previous posters.
1) Sarawak Cultural Village. As all have advised, be there early to watch the Cultural Show. 2) The Bako National Park may be an option but we didn't have the time to consider that then. 3) Walking around Kuching city itself is pretty interesting. Open air market, Satok Sunday Market (this starts on Saturday evening itself), the riverside and try locating the 3 different cat monuments along Jalan Padungan. Of course, locating where the recommended street foods/eating oulets were was another challenge by itself. 4) We used Sin Wan Transport Services when we had to get to the Sarawak Cultural Village. They used a new Toyota van to drive us around. They can be contacted at 082-338218/016-8947473/013-5636918. Do check out my street food and seafood tips. Our trip to Kuching was more of an eating experience as well!

Hi all,
We have came back from Kuching trip. Kuching, nice and clean town. We have been most of the places of interest. Besides that, off course we ate seafood at Topspot food court. Tried Sarawak Laksa, Koh LoK Mee etc. We like the 'bidin' vegetable too, it can find everywhere in restaurant. Got one question, why we unable to find 'Sarawak Pineaaple' in Kuching? Maybe it just only a name for the pineaple but not actual plant or come from Sarawak?:) P/s : rm2co, thanks for your recommendation for the transport no. The van is new and good. Mr. Bong is good and polite, we happy a lot with his service/guide when we are there.

Sarawak pineapples are basically pineapples grown in Sarawak. What I think you wanted to get were the special Sarikei ones, which are sweeter and more fragant. We managed to find them at the wet market stalls by the Riverfront. Not many available though. Lots of other locally grown pineapples were also available there.
