What are the best restaurants and/or markets to find vegan food? And, if possible, organic?

I like real food daily in Santa Monica...I think there's another one in Beverly Hills.

I'm surprised I've not run into you at Real Food Daily. The one in Beverly Hills is great.

I haven't gone much lately Al...and when I do,it's the one in SM. With the increasingly bad traffic, it can actually be an unpleasant trek to get from MDR to SM believe it or not...

G_...Oh yeah...remember I visit my daughter in Los Felis (finally sold the place by Molhuland)...I believe I could walk (ok jog) to AOC faster than I could drive some nights. But I'm not certain AOC would want me at the bar after that jog...

The 10 is becomming the "new 405."....sad but true

i still haven't been to AOC. It's criminal because Suzanne Goin was a friend of mine in college.

Ya gotta go try it. AOC not only has an incredible menu, it has an even better wine selection. Next time I'm in LA I'll send you a warning (AKA invitation) and we'll get the place booked.

As for markets, try Whole Foods...they are a chain located all over.

It's a done deal, Al. Who knows Suzanne may be there and say hello (and possible drop off a few morsels) ;o)

Here's a thread on Chowhound that may be helpful. You can also do a similar search on the Los Angeles board there and see what else comes up.

I lived in LA for 10 years (and am a vegan nutritionist :). On the westside there are plenty of options. There are many organic live food places, Juliano's Raw (Broadway and 6th) is the best of them (but also the most expensive). There is one on main street in Santa Monica, can't remember the name, another at Washington and Centinela approximately. There's "Real Food Daily" which has macrobiotic options that's at Arizona and 5th, I believe (Santa Monica). There is "A Votre Sante" in central LA (Fairfax district). There is "The Flowering Tree" (vegan, but not all organic) in West Hollywood, there is probably 100 more because since I moved there have been plenty opening.
