| French Polynesia | Advice on choice of islands and activities Posted: Thu November 1, 2007 07:11 PM UTC
Hi,
I am coming for my Honeymoon to FP in Feb 2008 and am there for 7 nights. Out of that I have to spend 2 nights in Papeete because of my flight connections. Wanted your advice on where to spend the remaining 5 nights? Should I split them between Bora Bora or Moorea or just stick to 1 island? Which would be a better island to visit? What are the activities which each islands offer? It would be great if you could advice. Thanks! |

I would go to Bora-Bora and maybe staying one night more in tahiti and visit Moorea in a day. Both (bora-bora/moorea) have do nothing, rest and peace (and empting wallet) like main activities, bora-bora has a [much] better lagoon and snorkel there is fantastic.
I think Feb not the best month to go to FP, you need moquito repellent, take it from home.

Bora Bora is better than Moorea. Personally I prefer Rangiroa since it's less touristy than Bora Bora. Do you speak a little French? If not, you may have to stay in resort.

Are you a diver? If so, Bora Bora offer a nice dive to see the giant Manta ray. The creature is magnificient. It's one of the unforgettable expecience in my life. Snorkeling on Bora Bora has to be by boat since most of the coral garden are near the reef which are a bit away from the resorts on Bora Bora. Since you only have 5 nights, I would stick with Bora Bora unless you don't mind changing resort and fligth from Moorea to Bora Bora. However, the flight is only about 1 hour. But you have to take a boat ride from the Bora Bora air strip to the resort. It may take another 20 to 30 minutes. So a 2 days on Moorea and 3 days on Bora Bora is possible. On Moorea, you can rent a car to drive up the mountain and see the rain forest. Don't forget to drink the Moorea pipeapple juice. I am still graving for it.
