| Caracas | New Years Eve in Caracas Posted: Wed October 31, 2007 09:13 PM UTC
Ola,
I will be in Venzuela for 4 weeks during December and January, and was wondering, as to whether anybody could me give recommendations for a nice party on New Years Eve in Caracas. Everything would be highly appreciated. Many thanks and have a sunny day! Helge |

I've been in the city on New Year's Eve, and yes there are rocking parties. But, I can't give any specific advice. The city will rock with enough fireworks to make you think that the city is under military siege. I've never seen such use of private explosive fireworks as on New Year's Eve in Caracas. Have fun, but also be careful.

Caracas, as many other cities in Venezuela, will be rocking on that day: just as Atufft wrote.
Fireworks everywhere, of course, so you should be careful: in dangerous zones it could be real bullets. Most discos, restaurants and places like those will open at around 1:00 a.m., after the 2008 welcome has ocurred. So you shouldn't have problems with that. It wouldn't be nice to be alone at that night since all people will be reunited with their families and friends, and streets will commonly be empty. My recommendations are: * Some hotels offer a big New Year celebration dinner. You can both be safe and share with others until 12:00 a.m.. Try to book one of these. * Make arrangements with other travelers coming to Caracas or with friends living here. * Stay at your hotel and go out after midnight. Success, Luis Fran Ydler

As Luis Ydler wrotte, for me its the best choice. Tamanacao Hotel, Melia Caracas Hotel, Rdisson Eurobuilding Hotel, Marriot Hotel, all of them evene ofer a dancing dinner and you will share with other people.
Of course fireworks ..dont miss see ...are amazing!!! Best Luck

Most of the big parties in Caracas are listed on this Web site - http://www.rumberos.net/. Might be usefull to look through it and you should find some New Years parties. San Ignacio Mall is a good place to head because of the sheer number of clubs in one location and because it is very safe.

When it comes to websites, besides Rumberos.net I'd gladly recommend www.rumbacaracas.com ...
