Baltimore Questions about BWI Amtrak Station
Posted: Wed October 31, 2007 09:58 PM UTC
What is the best way to reach the Amtrak station and avoid heavy traffic if coming from Parkville?

Also, can anyone tell me where the Quicktrak ticket kiosks and outbound tracks are?

If my train is at 3, how soon do I need to arrive?

From Parkville I would take I-95 South to I-395 BWI airport exit and follow signs to BWI Amtrak station. Since you will be travelling in the early afternoon traffic should not be a big problem. It is a small station but you will have to pay to park in the garage.
If you leave Parkville no later than 1:30 pm you should be OK. Allow 40-45 mins travel time Parkville→BWI Station.

I think the above directions are good, however I'd go from I-95 to 195, which is sort of an access road (right by exit for UMBC, and one exit south of exit from 95 to 695), and follow signs. Also, there is a MARC train stop in Halethrope that you'll pass, so ignore that.

The ticket kiosks are in the little hut. For southbound trains, you have to walk over a little ramp, since it's on the other side of the tracks.

But, from Parkville, I would assume it's much faster to get to Penn Station in Balto then to go to BWI....

I would get there about half hour early. The kiosks seem to confuse first time users.
