Is it possible to get a cab from TJ to San Diego at night? (10.00pm til midnight)We were looking to stay in TJ overnight but all hotels look a little crappy and have been advised not to do so. Is it possible to go down during the day, have a few drinks and cab it back to San diego?

i have done this but the last time was about 5 years ago, but you should be able to arrange taxi...
I cannot stress enough the fact that many police in tijuana don't take kindly to drunken tourists on the streets tho...go, have tons of fun but please make sure not to get too overly drunk and then walk the streets, you will possibly be stopped and asked questions and maybe pay a fine...i learned this the hard way...hopefully you have practiced your spanish, too.

It is possible, but not probable to find a taxi that would take you from Tijuana to San Diego. The taxi driver would have to have papers allowing him into the USA and would have to be licensed to drive his taxi here as well. Most aren't qualified.

It would be simpler and less expensive to take a taxi to the border, walk across and then get a taxi on this side or take the SD Trolley, Blue Line which has a station just steps from the border.

The SD Trolley runs until 12:59 Sunday-Friday and 1:59 Saturday.

I agree with "nash..." Drunkards are more likely to run into BIG problems in Tijuana, not only from the police if you cause any type of trouble, but also from the "opportunist" who often times regard the drunk as "asking for it."

Be polite, respectful and keep your wits. You should have a great time.

agree with above post - get back to the border, cross into the us side then get a taxi or trolley

except that the trolley doesn't run all night. Be sure to check because cab fare from San Ysidro to SD would be REALLY high.

At worst, you could go to Sanborns on the Revu and drink coffee until 5 AM, when the trolley gets moving again. it's open 24 hours and has great pie and coffee refills.
