Can I buy a SIM card at the Santo Domingo airport when I arrive, for use in a GSM cellphone while I'm in the D.R.? If yes, how much is the cost and where can I buy the card?

As far as I know you can't, but you can get a SIM card at any Orange booth. The reason of this is that we still don't have a prepaid plan that you can buy wherever and put it into your phone, but that the Orange personnel has to enter the cell phone # in their machines for activation.

I don't know how much the cost of the prepaid kit they have is and they don't have that "kind" of information at their website but they're all around the city. Any place that has the Orange sign is a dealer and you can buy their Orange card (that's the prepaid kit without any monthly subscription).

That's what I found out:

RD$125 - it's $4US, right? Amazing deal, if it's true!
