Bodrum Bodrum - Shopping over Christmas
Posted: Tue October 30, 2007 07:20 PM UTC
We are flying out to Bodrum between Christmas and New Year to check out the local shops. We are planning on furnishing our apt. which is due for completion mid 2008, and looking at the pros and cons of furnishing ourselves.
We also have to arrange for air con and water heater to be fitted.
Has anybody any experience of buying furniture and arranging delivery themselves?
Have heard that there are many shops on the main road close to Oasis shopping centre and would like to hear from anybody that may have used any of these shops.
Would be grateful for any tips that anybody could offer.

hi there, my partner and i recently furnished our apartment in altinkum, we found the quick delivery unbelievable (same day). we went shopping with a rep from the company we bought our apartment from and on the whole were pleased with our purchases, we did however find out after we had spoken with other expats that the price we were charged probably was a third dearer to take into account the reps commision!
We have done our own shopping for TV, Bedding, soft furnishings ect and have always recevied courteious service and quick delivery.
The shops in Turkey dont shut over christmas but they may be shut new years day
I cannot help you about the air con and water heater as ours were already fitted.

Hope this helps

Yvonne

PS a scam of the builders is hitting you with a £1000 bill before you get your Tapu this they say is for Water and Electric meters and informing all the municiples. we found out later that the true cost is about a quarter of that

If you can't find what you want in Bodrum, I would suggest you go to Milas.
Milas is an inland town not to far from Bodrum, it is a local town and is only visited by tourists on its market day, here the shops are open all year round.
