I will visit Madrid on November and will spend only one day there.
I have booked hostel in the down town, I am interesting is it possible to see Madrid for one day, and what I can visit for such short period?

Greetings from Belgrade!

Hi - We were also there for a very short time. I would definitely visit the Palacio Real (Royal Palace). The rooms are magnificent - so ornate! Make sure to stop and have some tapas! Skip the awful bullfights!

If you're into art you could choose to visit one of the 3 biggest art museums, Prado Museum, Reina Sofía or Thyssen-Bornemisza (correct my spelling if needed). Perhaps you could take a trip on their cable railway (Teleférico de Madrid). I agree with the above poster, skip the bullfights.

I would do the Prado first thing, then pop over to the Reina Sofia. The Thyssen B has a great collection, including more contemporary work, but it may be too much to fit all in one day. Metro over to the Palace and spend about two hours. From the palace head a bit North East and check out the Egyptian temple. In the evenings (at least during the summer) there is usually some kind of show at Plaza Major. Dinner starts around 9. Then head over to say Kapital, a club by Atocha until 4 AM. Then head over to get hot chocolate and churros at St. Gines by Plaza Major. Karl.

we just spent 2 days in madrid one week ago.. depending on your interests.. if your artsy, you could hit prado first then reina sofia.. if not, hit the plaza mayor and royal palace.. then hang out at a tapas bar and get yourself some good beer and tapas.. it would be great if you could spend one or two additional days there.. have fun...
