Unidentified photos

I've got my Toronto page just about finished - I've got a few more pictures to post, but it's basically finished.

But I've got three photos that I can't identify, and I wondered if someone from there could tell me what they were of. (And if I have any mistakes, I'd appreciate your letting me know that too.)

One is the second picture in this travelogue. It's the building I saw out of my hotel window which I thought was the university, but maybe not.

The other two are the 2nd and 3rd general tips. One is a statue between the Toronto Hilton and the subway stop, and the other may not even be in Toronto - it was the end of the roll and right afterward I went to Salt Lake City.

Also if anyone could tell me what that round object with the slit in it on the water front is I'd be grateful. I can't remember what it is. (It's in the harbour tour travelogue.

That 2nd pic looks like it could be Old City Hall, just because of the clock tower.

The other pic is the Canada Life building I think, just an insurance company's building but they have lights on the roof that let you know what the weather is like. Certain coloured lights tell you what's going on with the weather.

I'm pretty sure the Statue is of Sir Adam Beck. (1857-1925)

"Sir Adam Beck had a nickname, The Hydro Knight, because he had a plan to provide all of Ontario with publicly owned, inexpensive hydro."

Best.

You're most welcome.

Did you take a shot of the South African War Memorial from 1910, which is just a little North of the Beck?

It's absolutely impressive.

I don't have any pictures that I can ID as the S. African War Memorial.

I remember taking the photo of Beck from across the street as I was walking from the subway stop back to my hotel. I would have been walking toward the lakefront.

I think in the original photo, the inscription could be read, but I'm working from a website download of my photos from the place I sent the film to be developed, and in the digitized version of the film picture, it is too indistinct.

Since my visit was in 1999, some of the details of what photos I took are a bit fuzzy.
