| Mumbai | pub type places around town? Posted: Sat October 27, 2007 05:03 AM UTC
I'm visiting some cousins in Bombay on Monday. Its been a long long time since I have visited. Most cousins are now older, working all day, married w/kids etc. Evenings will be busy but days I have it pretty much to explore.
I'm quite keen to just venture out around town and see the sights with a backpack and camera. After exploring so much..is there any area that has a pub/restruant type area? I'm thinking similar to places like "The Rocks" in Sydney or Southbank in Melbourne or SOHO in NYC, or Santa Monica in LA..just a whole suburb or plaza of funky places to eat and drink (solo or in a group). So after a few good hours of exploring, can anyone recommend a nice place in the daytime to get a cold beer? And lastly, I've found out there is a Fitness First in Mumbai and my aussie membership is valid. Anyone know if this gym is any good? FF is the "fast food" of Gym's in Australia, they are everywhere, but they all have good facilities. I've been told the one in Mumabi is downtown, so I'm thinking this is ideal...burn a few calories...have a shower right here in town and then go out and put some calories back in :) Cheers Ajay |

Hi there,
You could try Colaba or Juhu. Though most watering holes arent too concentrated in any particular part of the city, the above come close. That ofcourse depends on where you are put up at....As regards you exploring....the south of the city is a nice place to start...try some unusual places like Kanheri Caves Jogeshwari or Mahakali Caves Andheri East or BanGanga Tank at Walkeshwar.... Cheers,
