That popping up of your questions seems to be happening every 6 months (roughly). I remember that you posted this question several times in the last year or so. Advice: check the replies on your previous postings.

And you might do better to ask these sorts of question on a forum for foreigners living in AD rather than one aimed at people interested in travel, e.g. http://www.alloexpat.com/abu_dhabi_expat_forum/
Although I don't know why you don't just google for it anyway:

thx for the 1 useful and useless answers ; )

to people who have nothing better to do but keeping a record of who posts what and when: the reason why i asked before is because I am changing my resident country quite often and/or get opportunities in different countries.

further: it is of course possible to google everything, so no point in having forums, right : )

but, I do agree that this is maybe not the right forum to ask my questions anyway,

Hi

I can very well answer the driving part as I took license 2 months ago in Abu Dhabi. So as per current rules if you have a license from your country of origin then tasks are somewhat simplified:

1) Go to Mussafah driving school (take any taxi and say mussafah driving school)
2) GO in morning and open a file. Take lot of cash in pocket (about 1000 dirhams)
3) Take 6 photos (approx), your license copies ( with arabic translation for safer side), your no objection certificate from company, your visa stamp and passport copies
4) take a date for direct road test (becasue you had license from country of origin)
5) take a schedule for theory classes (MUST MUST MUST for all)
6) driving test will be month ahead, so meanwhile you can finish theory classes and pass easy theory test
7) Go on practical road test and pass

If you have never drove a car before then its long procedure and expensive. in this case first 3 points are same. From Point 4 the things change. You have to enroll in Emirates driving school and take driving lessons before taking road tests etc.

Hope this helped. Let me know if you have more questions.

Amit

Elisa-4, I am with on this one. What a rude poster that nhoolb is. It is very annoying to post a question and get this silly answers from old guys who have nothing to do but act as a self imposed VT police. My advice to those pepaws is to Get a Life , already ! and star posting in some Geriatric site, instead !

Thanks guys, it was very helpful!

beste groeten, prettige dag verder.
