| Palau | Palau via Tokyo & Saipan Posted: Wed October 24, 2007 10:59 PM UTC
I'm interested in visiting both Palau and Saipan as part of a cross-Pacific trip in December/January. Will be in Japan visiting friends first. Is there direct air from Tokyo to Palau? Likewise for Saipan - which would it make sense to visit first? The Pacific is so vast... what seems obvious geographically may not be doable depending on flight routing. Any advice appreciated.

There are certainly flights from Tokyo to Palau - it's a great destination for the Japanese.
Not sure why you want to go to Saipan, but if you're open to a suggestion, there are very inexpensive flights between Palau and Philippines. IF you're a scuba diver, that will be music to your ears...

Thanks G.C.:
Have long wanted to see some of the WWII Pacific theater sites. Had seriously considered Tarawa too. But it's expensive, no doubt. May cross off Saipan & spend more time in Japan & Palau. Do the whole Pacific thing on a dedicated trip later. Cheers, - Pete

HI! "GeoffyG":
Asian Spirit Airlines seems to have discontinued their services from the Philippines to Palau....most unfortunately!

hmmm. I'm not sure if it was them or Cebu Pacific who had such great deals last July.... but maybe the deals were so great they couldn't make money!

Yep, it is Asian Spirit #$%^$% because I booked my flight with them and Now they tell me they will not fly to Palau due to insufficient passenger load.
If you're into Scuba Diving, Yap in the Micronesia is definitely an interesting option as you get to see manta rays all over.

A good bet is to take Continental to Guam, then take flights from there to Saipan and Palau. Saipan is beautiful, with lots of history. (Not the city, but the rest of the island). I'll be heading to Palau in the next year or so frm Toyko - can't wait!
