Hi,im going to be in Mexico within the next 2 weeks and would love some help on buying a gift for a special friend , im thinking silver something??? i will be staying in GDL itself so any hints or tips wuld be great.

There's lot of Mexican gift you can buy in Guadalajara for a good price. Silver is my favorite to buy when in Guadalajara, If you are serious about silver go to "Centro Joyero" this is locate in "Plaza Tapatia" at the Historic centre of GDL in front of Hospicio cabaņas, there's lot of Jewelry locals, if possible look for "Joyeria Gely" this is my favorite, mercandise is always the lattest fashion styles and the prices are always the best, is usually silver with stones,etc. Not just plain silver styles as other Jewelry locals in there. I found this place by Mys ister in law recommendation she live there and work in the Jewelry industry so she knows better.
Any way if you buy there or at other place always ask for their best price "wholesale price" many offer better price if you buy $500pesos or more. Even if you don't plan on buying that much ask first, I always end up buying on wholesale at the end, I just Looove silver.

There's lots of silver in Mexico already. I suggest you bring a gift from your home city, something not generally available in GDL.
