Pattaya Sheraton Pattaya -- need to hire a car?
Posted: Wed October 24, 2007 03:58 AM UTC
Hi All,

We will be staying in Sheraton Pattaya and it supposed to be a little away from town. Are taxi readily available in town to go back to the hotel even late at night? How much should we expect to pay? Or should we hire a driver for the day so we don't have to worry about not being able to get taxi on the streets? Also, can anyone recommend a nice spa in town? Any other suggestions to activities/restaurants would be appreciated.

Thanks for any input!

You are a little away from the more common tourist areas.

The Marriott is a little more in the center or closer to popular areas.

The most common form of transportation is by BAHT BUS. A baht bus is a pick up truck with seats in back. When you are not around an expensive hotel the price is 10 baht for a set ride. At the hotel, unless the hotel provides free rides, you will probably have to negotiate the price. In town wave a moving baht bus down, don't talk to the driver, hop on, they drive a set route - push the buzzer over the seats and get out. Pay driver 10 baht only! When you talk to these guys and tell them where to go then you pay a price that you bargain for.

There are several good modern malls in the Pattaya/Jomtien area. Three movie theaters now. Lots of restaurants from artsy fartsy places to simple McDonalds/Burger King franchises. You won't starve.

Ordinary hotels with air, hot water, TV, private toilet/bath, security box and refrigerator can be found in the 500 baht range. Besides the Marriott Google up the Arecca Lodge for a more centrally located hotel if interested.

The Sheraton is a nice hotel, a little too far from things for me.

Thanks for your advice! But we are set on Sheraton already as it seems like the nicest hotel in the area. So, please advise on transportation to and from town. Thanks again.

Sheraton is the best hotel in Pattaya without doubt, you can walk about 15 minutes to south Pattaya, with a new way between the hill, i just made it 2 weeks ago.
