Montpellier Moving to Montpellier

I am trying to find a house to rent long-term near Montpellier but discovered that there are often a lot of floods in certain areas and that the weather changes from village to village (St Martin de Londres always gets snow).

Can anyone please give me some advice as to which areas do get flooding each year?
Can anyone advise me on which areas are good to live in (for example: less traffic jams to get to city centre)?

OK, I'll answer this. I think the lack of responses after 1 month is because people are confused by your message.

I live about 20 km from St Martin de Londres. Last snow was in 2002 and lasted 1 day. More regular snowfall occurs in the Cevennes on high ground. So, avoid living on high ground in the mountains ?

I also live quite close to one of the worst areas for flooding. Last flood was also in 2002. Languedoc rain is rare, but can be very heavy. Floods normally occur in autumn. The flood is normally caused by heavy rain in the mountains : exactly where decides which valley floods. So, don't live on low ground by a river ?

Traffic is heavy in peak periods around Montpellier. The centre is either a pedestrian area, no entry or a one way street. With expensive parking ! The best solution is to park on the outskirts and take a tram.

There are too many to list, but some of the more popular villages close to Montpellier are Lattes, Perols, Carnon/Palavas (on coast but busy in summer, empty in winter), Mauguio, Castries, Sussargues, Baillargues, Le Cres, Vendargues, Teyran, Jacou, Assas, Prades les Lez, Montferrier, St Clements, Saint Gely, Combaillaux, Pignan, Fabregues, Maguelone. A few villages that are further out, but have fast road access are : Sete, Pignan, Pezenas, Gignac, Lodeve, Quissac, Sommieres, Lunel, Grande Motte, Le Roi de Grau.

So, some more research for you !

Bonne chance

Are you an American Expate ? None of my business, but as I surfed around, there you were. You seem like an interesting fellow. I live in Hawaii, and do a bit of traveling, for fun and business. I saved you as a Friend...maybe you would want to chat. I need to know how to get from the Nimes Airport (Ryan Air) to the Train station. I am wondering how far apart they are, and if there is an easy way to do this. I will travel light, and be there April 16th. Thanks for your thoughts and advise! Sunny
