| Vilnius | New Years eve in Vilnius!! Posted: Mon October 22, 2007 10:52 AM UTC
For someone living in Angola, Africa, where New Years eve is celebrated dancing the kizomba under the stars by the beach, with pulsating African rhythms and a glass of strong whisky or Cuba Libre in one hand, I am a bit lost on how I would celebrate New Years eve in Vilnius. Will it be too cold and bleak to go out and party? Please advise.

yes, it should be cold outside, but usually everybody celebrates inside, and go out at around midnight to play fireworks and then go back to celebrate inside. What are you drinking it depends on the group or person, but well usually alcohol variety is quite wide :) There are new year parties organized in many clubs, but some people celebrate privately and so on.

Which part of Vilnius is the centre of the New Years Eve party? I want to be amongst the party crowd!

Well, try to book a hotel closer to the Cathedral Square (this is where you have all the fun and crowds of people gathering just a bit before the midnight)... It might be quite cold and covered in snow which makes it even better and more authentic... I am sure you'll love it as much as I do!
