Kruger National Park Some advise
Posted: Sun October 21, 2007 05:57 PM UTC
Hello,
My boyfriend and I are planning to go by car from Maputo to KNP next weekend.

I am quite lost because I don't have much info about the park and this one is quiet new for me. Could you please give me some advise? Where could we stay? Do you know any nice accommodation? I imagine should'nt be very far as we go for 2 nights and then back to Maputo.
The accommodations are inside the park or outside? Could we book wherever we stay the game drives? I imagine it is better doing it with guides who knows more than ourselves in the car (no idea if that is possible)

Any other suggestion welcome, sorry I am a bit lost and I am trying to prepare it:-)

Thanks!!!

Start here for accom. inside Kruger (most economical option):

http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/camps/

Check availability of accom. here:

http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/tourism/availability.php

Otherwise you have to look at private places outside Kruger and I wouldn't know where to start for that.

Hello,
On that website of San Parks you'll find the cheap rest camps. They are basic and self catering, but ok and you can stay within the park.
On site you can also book game drives. However, they are often in big busses. And they are only allowed to use the public roads and are not allowed to go off road!
It's necessary to book the accommodation in advance, as they are often fully booked and when you enter the park and you want to stay overnight, then you have to show a reservation!
Coming from Maputo, I suggest that you drive to Komatipoort and enter north of the village at Crocodile bridge! If you don't have to wait too long at the border then you should get there within 2 hours!
If you've got a bit of money to spend and you want some luxury, then try the private game reserves in Sabi Sand, west of the Kruger Park!¨
Or you can stay outside the park for example in Komatipoort, Malelane or Hazyview!
Enjoy your trip!
