Río Dulce How to go to El Paraiso from Lake Izabal
Posted: Fri October 19, 2007 09:17 PM UTC
Hello,

I am wondering if there is a way to go to El Paraiso and swim there during an hour or two and then go back to Lake Izabal.
I also would like to visit Las Escobas waterfalls and the seven Altors.
Do you know if there is a shuttle to go to those places in order to spend few time there and then come back to Lake Izabal??

Thank you very much

Finca Paraiso is partially located on Lake Izabal. depending on where you are you can access it either from the lake or by public bus. are you staying in rio dulce proper?
for lake access you have to hire a boat which can be expensive so you'd be better off finding others with whom to share. the boat will wait for you at the dock and once at the finca they have a tractor that can take you up to the road closer to the hot waterfalls. otherwise it's a 20-30 minute walk.
there are also buses leaving a few times a day from Rio Dulce and the ride is quite inexpensive, under 10 quetzales I believe. make sure to check when it is coming back so you don't miss the last one.
i haven't hiked to the 7 altors so i don't know how long this takes but you can find out when you get to rio dulce.

For additional information about the hot springs water falls go to www.hotelitoperdido.com which is located across the river. Good luck.

yes you can. it will probably take a good half day if you go by bus. 45 minutes there from "Rio Dulce", an hour or longer on the site walk+soak+walk, than back by bus.
but you are actualy on the Izabal lake. have a look at the map
