| Kuching | First to Kuching, Tips required please :) Posted: Wed October 17, 2007 01:09 AM UTC
Hello folks,
I have two questions and would be gratefuk if you could help me to answer: 1) Do you know any tours in Kuching and how much do they cost? Such as to national parks, adventures etc. I read CPH is one of the travel agencies does this type of stuff, and I would hope to hear your advice/suggestion. 2) We are spending 4 days in Kuching and plan to stay at two hotels, both Holiday Inn. We are deciding between Crown Plaza Riverside, Holiday Inn Kuching, Holiday Inn Damai Beach and Lagoon resort. I do not know which ones are better for value? Also we want to spend three nights in one hotel and one night in another. So whether, 3 nights in Crown Plaza/Centre or 3 nights in the beach side? Which arrangement would be better for exploring Sarawak? Many thanks for all of your help in advance! Best, WS |

Which national parks do you want to go to?
You don't really need to go on a tour. Most people go to Bako N Park it's a two hour bus ride from Kuching, then a 20 minute boat ride this is the only way into and out of the park, unless you charter a boat yourself, you must book your accommodation in advance in the Kuching tourist information centre. Then at the park you are free to wander around or pay for a guide. You can book all your accommodation when you arrive much cheaper than online. There are four resorts in Damai and midweek they are all just about empty I normally go into a couple on travel agents in kuching and check prices normally around 110-150 malaysia $ per night including breakfast. Holiday Inn Kuching is nice it overlooks the river, Crowne Plaza is opposite.

Stayed at Damai Lagoon a few years ago. Nice but a bit isolated, from memory 20 minutes drive out of town and Sure I read somewhere in the last few days that it's closed for renovation at the moment. The only thing nearby is the cultural village which is worth a look.
Be sure to spend a day at Bako Island, and don't forget to take your camera. Enjoy Tricia

greetings from Kuching...
hye..seems u have some interest in tours well there's not only CPH travel do this type of stuff and offer those tours in kuching.A lot of travel agents in kuching do have it too. Such as BAko National park is about 30 minutes to reach Bako jetty. From there you have to charter a boat to the Park HQ from the booth at the jetty. The one way fare is RM40 per boat (up to 5 people).By cab is RM35 one way takes you 25 mins journey. We can arrange for you for da day trip or overnite trip to the National Park. For da hotels in da city that u mentioned, all hotels are better for value. Crowne plaza is 5 star and Holiday Inn is 4 star. For your information, Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon change named to Damai Puri Resort and Spa that will operation somewhere in January, now they are close for renovation. While Holiday Inn Damai Beach still remains. You can have the regular shuttle service runs between Holiday Inn Kuching, Crowne Plaza Riverside, Holiday Inn Damai Beach cost u RM10 per way. If do intersted pls do not hesitate to contact me via email. And hope can hear from u soon. thanks & regards.

sum information that i missed out..
if you stay at Holiday Inn Damai Beach u also can visit to Sarawak Cultural Village, a unique living museum offering excellent introduction to local cultures and lifestyles. Just a short walk from the resort Hotel. There's a replica buildings representing every major ethnic group in Sarawak. Each building has a "storyteller" who is expert in decribing and interpreting traditional cultures and lifestyle.
