It lookes very dirty, lots of homeless people, and wondering about my upcoming stay in hollywood???? How safe will 2 girls be?

Very safe depending on there you stay. Stay in a nice area, its safe. like most big cities.

It's actually quite safe. You don't have anything to worry about as long as you don't stay in a motel =) Most hotels are in quite a safe neighborhood but if I were you, I wouldn't stay in Hollywood. It's just too crowded with tourists.

You'll be fine in most parts during the daytime. Stay where there are crowds at night.

As a general rule, the futher west you go, the safer you will be.

You know what?

If you are that concerned, stay home where you are "safe".

gee, what great advise you give..(not) I will be staying in beverly hills and malibu. I just wonder how hollywood is like the sunset strip area and the highland shopping center vine street or the walk of fame is

Hollywood is not a "dirty" town and the homeless people congregate in certain parts of town. Most likely, you will not see them unless you go to the Grey Hound bus terminal in downtown LA. For the most part, it's safe but I would be cautious if you are walking about in the evenings and depending on where you are at. Check out my travel pages on Los Angeles and Hollywood for things to do. If you're here, you should go to Venice Beach or Santa Monica. You'll see some homeless people there, too, but it's common. I lived here all my life. I have never had an encounter with a homeless person.

thanks grace..love your youtube video clip. Are there many accidents on the main roads in hollywood. it looks crazy i will just try to keep up with every one else. what is the road that will take you closest to the hollywood sign.

the hollywood sign is dangerous! People have been known to jump from it.

You have nothing to worry about. Beverly Hills and Malibu are really safe. Sunset strip and the Hollywood & Highland shopping center are all touristy areas. You'll find the streets filled with lots of people. There might be homeless people laying around but they're really harmless. You'll be fine amongst all the people. Believe me, you have nothing to worry about. I shop in those areas by myself at nights and I've never had any problem.

The Hollywood Sign is seen from any open view going east from Vine St on Franklin Ave, closer to Wilton Place looking north to the hills.
