Cordoba is close, and has many sights, particularly the unique cathedral inside a gigantic ex-mosque.

You simply have to go down to Jerez de la Frontera (about one hour by train) to enjoy the city. It is very nice. But try to taste the sherry. Whilst you are down in Jerez why not pop over to Arcos which is 1/2 an hour by bus (the bus station is next door to the train station). Arcos is a lovely old town. Please look at the webcam from the highest point in the old town. And look at the Ayuntamiento's web page which has some nice pictures ..... http://www.ayuntamientoarcos.org/

I would also suggest Cordoba. The Old Town is the quintessential Spanish "barrio" with narrow cobblestoned streets, whitewashed houses with iron wrought balconies and flower pots hanging from the windows. The mosque-cum-cathedral alone is worth the journey.
