| Antwerp | Day trip from Antwerp Posted: Mon October 15, 2007 04:00 AM UTC
Hello,
I was just wondering if there are any good day-trips from Antwerp. I am sure there are many interesting towns around Antwerp, but if you could only see 1 or 2 where would you go for day-trips? Thanks for any help, Alex |

According to my friends who had already been here, Brugge is worth a visit. It is about an hour with the train from Antwerp. Visit the Brugge pages in this site and find out if you'll be convinced.
Bon Voyage! *bell

Definitely Brugge and Brussels as well, of course- especially if you'll be there for the Christmas markets time! Look at my pages?

I'm sorry but I completely forgot to mention that we've already visited Bruge and Brussels in May 2007. We couldn't fit Antwerp into the trip so we are going there next and since we'll have about 5 days there, I was thinking of a day trip or 2 just to see some small towns around Antwerp. Plus I love local food that's not prepared according to what tourists like and it's done the way it has always been done.
Thanks a lot

that was what I had in mind
Mechelen and Lier without a guide you will miss a bit,but still worth visiting. you could combine Mechelen with Fort of Breendonk maybe? that is a WWII historical site. Leuven is pretty nice too

Leuven is indeed very nice!
And of course it's Lier and not Lierse, which is the name of the football club. :-)

If you have already been to Brussels and Bruges, then my vote goes to Ghent. Lovely place, well worth visiting.
