| Punta Cana | Boat to Puerto Rico? and Dengue Fever Posted: Sat October 13, 2007 07:38 PM UTC
I see lots of tours to saonoa island, but are there any tours to isla mona or another part of puerto rico?
Also what is the risk of Dengue Fever? and does Dengue Fever go away or do you always have it? like do you have to avoid ibuprofen for the rest of your life? |

There are ferries going to Puerto Rico but from Santo Domingo, as far as I know. www.ferriesdelcaribe.com. I'll ask about the dengue fever.

Besides what Ex-Mainer said (which I think you should follow), I haven't been able to find out if Dengue is something you live with or if it goes away after you're cured. Dengue is transmitted by the bite of the Aedes aegypti (rarely Aedes albopictus) mosquito, according to Wikipedia. The reason why we've had some problems with it is because people "save" water in "containers" (like car tyres, paint buckets, etc) that don't have a lid on to protect against the mosquito dropping its eggs in there. Hope it helps.

There are ferries from Fajardo that go to Vieques and Culebra Island as far as Mona island, I believe you must get a "permission" to visit the island..
check out this website for some insight on Puerto Rico www.puertoricortourism.com J~
