As I understand the situation, it's currently back to 'normal'.

Back to normal except curfew , 10 pm to 4 am. After all , Myanmar is no night life.Should help ordinary people by visiting Myanamr. Myanmar toursist industry is effect so badly and some already lost jobs and many mores are on the line.

As a tourist you should be fine. As was mentioned above, there is not really a night life anyway in Burma so you'd be back well within with the curfew.

Visas are more difficult to get but for the rest, It is fine here. Just got back and everything is quiet and there are even a few (though very few) tourists here in downtown Yangon.

Because this was our goverment gave rises such as CNG ( Natural Gas ), rice, goods,etc..Public moan the present economy condition. Now, foreigners ( Europe,Asia and USA ) are visited regularly. And regular flights fly ( TG - Thai Airways International, FD - Air Asia, PG - Bangkok Airway etc,.. ). Our goverment permitted the curfew in Yangon & Mandalay ( the biggest city in Burma ). Golden Yellow revolution is failed. And, some monks and prisoners were released including the crisis. United Nation General Sacretary Mr. Ban Ki Mon sent his agent to know the current situation in Myanmar. Mr. Gambari enquired occuring the problems ( bet. the government and the monks.) Mr. Gambari will appeal this problems to the United Nation. Mr.Gambari will back to Myanmar in Nov.. So, we wish to reach peace and development. So, if you wish to visit our country, you can visit peacefully & comfortly.

Current status is that at least up to last week Air Asia cancelled flights on a very regurlarly basis, MAI was 'full' (aka grounded i heard), and the internet conncetion was down for at least 3-4 days.
As said before, it takes more perseverance to get a visa for tourists, business visa is business as usual but for that you do need to have the invitation letter and it probably helped that i'd been for business visas on a regular basis there so they know me). Was downtown 3 days ago and totalled 6 westerners in all (a very low number for this time of year. I sat at least half an hour in my favorite teashop on the corner of Sule and didn't see a single tourist at all. (the 6 were spotted in a minibus leaving Bogyoke market....)
