| Palermo | Help! Decent Hotel in Palermo Posted: Fri October 12, 2007 09:45 PM UTC
Ciao. Does anyone know of a decent, inexpensive, hotel in Palermo within walking distance from the train station that has single rooms with shower and TV. The ones I have looked into either have TV but no in-suite shower/bath or no TV but have showers in the rooms. Also, can you walk from the train station Stazione-Centrale-to the Palazzo de Normanni/Cappella Palatina? It does not look too far on a map but distances can be far in reality.
Grazie. |

Well, after looking at your homepage, it may be that you speak some Italian...but I have to agree with Jen that I never found any reason to watch Italian TV when I lived there either ;-)
The walk from Palermo Centrale to Piazza del Parlamento (I think that's where this building is) is 1.6 kilometers or about 20-25 minutes on foot. It may be a little closer because one side of the building faces Piazza Vittoria, which is actually a couple of hundred yards closer to the station. Go to www.viamichelin.com, choose Driving Directions, enter "Palermo Centrale" and "Piazza del Parlamento" (and Palermo and Italy, of course), then click on the "on foot" option (lower down), then hit Search - it will show you the distance and time on foot as well as the recommended path...this is a very useful website... I only know one hotel that I would recommend in Palermo. That is the Hotel Grand des Palmes on Via Roma. This doesn't mean that there aren't any good hotels in Palermo. This is the only one I know first hand.

Thank you everyone for yor replies. Italian TV is great when you are an Italian soccer fan like I am. There always seems to be a game on when ever you turn on the TV. Forza Azzuri per sempre!
