Mexican food in NYC and cheap hotel near newark airport? Posted: Fri October 12, 2007 02:14 PM UTC
Hi guys,
Im in NYC for a conference (SMX - anyone else is gonna be there?)
I would like to eat some Mexican food since I love it and we dont have lot of it here ;-)
Let me know if you know of a nice place :-)
Also, My husband will join me there but he is on stand by tickets so maybe he wont get on the flight back with me - is there any cheap motels near Newark airport?

go into Tribeca NYC and go to CENTRICO. It is mexican cuisine, nice atmosphere, good service, I love the place. Just google it or look it up on www.menupages.com
Cheap hotels LOL..lots of them, really suspicious looking though. But seriously, contact the airline and see if they have recommended hotels nearby.

I've heard of Mole and Rosa Mexicana but must say I've never eaten at either. You could Google for reviews.

Gosh, you're in New York City where there is literally a Mexican restaurant in every street. If you're the adventurous type, I'd suggests simply exploring every areastreet wherever you happen to be staying at while in the city or when you find yourself being in the moment. If you're near midtown around the Hell's Kitchen area, ARIBA ARIBA on West 51st Street and 9th Avenue is really good, very inexpensive and fun crowd. Further up a few blocks on West 55th and also 9th Avenue, there's EL CENTRO which is also superb, cheap and great crowd.
On 8th Avenue, between West 55th and 54th Streets, there's CANCUN. I haven't eaten there in a while but it's still around, it tends to be crowded with after office-hours crowd and thus, noisy. Enjoy your stay in NYC!

If you want a fun Mexican restaurant try Dos Caminos.. there are several in NYC ( 825 3rd Ave Phone: (212) 336-5400) or (Soho -475 W Broadway Phone: (212) 277-4300)
If you want something more upscale, try Maya @ 1191 1st Ave Phone: (212) 585-1818.
All are great.
Cant help with the hotel, have never staying at a hotel in NYC.

I will copy these places (i only have one meal to spare so that is why i wanted to hear some of your favorite places (first night we are going to the conference party and 3rd night we will drive to atlantic city- and all of the rest will be conference meals LOL
I will take a\ list with me and visit one of them (or maybe even 2 in one night if i will feel as hungry as always :-)

the days inn newark airport was pretty cheap, under $100 and it had a free shuttle to the airport. took forever for the shuttle to arrive.

Hello to find a good hotel at a good price in Newark go to http://passport2.worldventures.com and enter Newark under Hotel search and check button that searches by price, it will come up with all hotels listed by price. Good luck on your travels.
