Sounds like a good idea - does that also mean we get to have a glass of German Hot Gluwein - i had a glass of this last year - and its the best thing i've ever had to warm me up inside on a very cold day. Much better also than the English Mulled Wines I've had.
I would be interested to know if they ever have an outdoor ice skating rink somehere in Manchester for Christmas - i did not see one last year -but this year it seems doubtful with everyone going on about health and safety all the time and common sense going out the window. There was an Ice skating rink when i went Nice in France - it was lovely - that - and Croissants with Hot Chocolate sauce.

Oh yes, lots of Gluhwein stalls and hot chocolate stalls too (and you can get it with a little something extra like Bailey's). And, yes, there will be an ice rink (http://www.manchester.gov.uk/site/scripts/news_article.php?newsID=3096) in the same location as last year's - Picadilly Gardens - but, apparently, much bigger. In fact, it looks like they were starting work on it this morning and it will go across the full width of the fountain area there, blocking the through access to the bus station.

Lots and lots of things planned for around Manchester leading up to the festive period itself!
