Bergamo Travel Bergamo to Alme

We will be flying into Bergamo Airport on a Wednesday and travelling to Alme. We will then return to the airport on Sunday. Can anyone advise me on the best way to travel between the airport and Alme?

Thank you.

less then 20 km, probably a taxi would be the best way if don't know how to go there. Taking a bus to downtown and a taxi from there it would be cheaper.

Yep, it's hard to advise you on the best way since we don't know how many you are, your mobility, amount of luggage, etc. It looks like the taxi ride is more like 15 kilometers (and that seems like the long way, but www.viamichelin.com picked it for a reason), so, as cgf says, if you don't know exactly where you going or there are several of you (sharing the fare) or you don't relish the idea of getting on and off public conveyances, then maybe the taxi will do - it will certainly get you there.

If you want to be as cheap as possible, you can take the bus from the airport to the train station in Bergamo (see http://www.sacbo.it/Editorial/newsCategoryViewProcess.jsp?editorialID=171 ), then walk what appears to be a very short distance to the SAB bus company stop in Bergamo, and take the bus to Alme. See http://www.bergamotrasporti.it/upload/orari/invernali/B.pdf - note that Fer5 means Monday-Friday, Fer6 means Monday through Saturday, Soc6 means school days including Saturday, and the blank box is every day...so you see that the buses are fairly frequent.

The only thing I am not positive about is the location of the SAB bus stop in Bergamo...but the company's address is S.A.B. AUTOSERVIZI S.R.L. 24122 Bergamo - Piazza Marconi, 4 - which is literally around the corner from the train station.

Or you can do what cgf suggested, because from the center of Bergamo, the taxi ride would be only 8 or so kilometers...and when you arrive at the train station in Bergamo, there will certainly be a taxi queue there...

Bus stations, Sab and main one, are just around the corner from the train station, where the bus from the airport stops.
Enjoy your trip.

If I remember well, taxi fare from/to airport to/from anywhere it's always more expansive, that why it's better to go railways station, then would not be a big taxi trip.

Bill, io transito dalle stazioni di Bergamo almeno due volte al dì... e, un po' più raramente, vado e vengo pure dall'aeroporto. Quasi sempre in autobus.
Ciao

PS: from airport to Almè taxi fare could be around 30 euro. Bus is about 3 euro per person. Not sure you can save so much money going by bus to train station and from there to Almè by taxi.

Thank you all for your helpful advice. There will be 3 of us: my husband and I and our 10 year old daughter, so cheap travel options are preferable! We will probably use train and bus to get to Alme, although I'm a little bit worried about regular evening transport as we don't arrive at Bergamo airport until 5.30pm. Information I have found on the web says that the weather is usually very wet in November and the average temperature is 8 degrees celsius. Would you agree?

Try to discover exactly where you have to go in Almè. It seems there are different options by bus (no train) depending the address you're going to. Buses run till evening to Almè via Provinciale (18.30, 19.00 from Stazione Autolinee; 19.45, 20.15 from Stazione SAB). From the airport take the bus n. 1 to train station; stazione SAB is the first one on the left side of train station, Autolinee the second one. You'll see both of them from the train station.
About wheather you should check some days before arriving (or drop me a line, and I'll tell you how is the weather like here); it's not always raining or so cold in November.
