Hello,

A few friends and I will be visiting Brisbane in January and we are interested in going diving. I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on some good places to go - specifically for a day trip - or even just a good dive shop to contact.

There are some fair diving locations in Moreton Bay - or you can go up the coast to Mooloolabah (Sunshine Coast) or down the coast to Byron Bay. I've been out of the dive scene for a long time, so can't give you any specifics. Can check it out if needed.

Brisbane has some great diving actually and not to far from the city. You can try Flinders Reef in Moreton Bay which is a coral reef with a large variety of fish, turtles, occasional sharks, rays, nudibranches and other marine life. Also Stradbroke Island off Brisbane has a few good spots such as Flat Rock and Manta Bommie. There are other opportunities close by also such as HMAS Brisbane, a warship that was scuttled of the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane a couple years ago. I dive many of these spots regularly and fully rate them. Let me know if you have any other questions.
