Hi! I`m going to visit Essaouira again for Nov. 4th to 11th 2007. I`m looking for a save and clean place in the Medina for less than 200 Dh per night. Can anyone suggest me anything? I would apprecciate it.

So 200 dirhams means 20 Euros or 28 USD... You can find something but I think it will be very unconfortable...

No problem to find something for that price or even cheaper!
Unfortunately I don't remember the adresses where I stayed 2 years ago, but I'll try to find them for you!

Check out this website - I havn't stayed there but it has been strongly recommended and I've noted it for my own use later. €27- including breakfast.
Over your budget but looks good.I have no doubt you will easily find a place within your budget if this is too much.

Carefull of the "over-friendly" males - ( I'm sure you know from previously ) - a friend of mine (travelling alone ) who is deeply into percussion music met some musicians there and she went back to a private house with a big group for a music session. She does not smoke and drinks sparingly but definately believes she was given something which left her with questionmarks from tne night before. She strongly believes nothing sinister happened - perhaps just a general "relaxent" in the food or suchlike!

Just take the same precautions which you would in any city / place you are not sure of, with that bit of extra caution which you take when there is no one watching your back..

Having said that I have been to Morocco 11 times - Essaouira 4 times - and have only met friendly and jolly people - never felt threatened at any time. Going back soon.

and its not just about being over friendly - theres not only something different going on in their psyche that has young guys going apparently 'ga ga' over women of any age - you will see 25 year olds with 55s and 65s no probs - no put down intended but they are known for being opportunistic and whereas most guys seem to oggle at attractive females or a bunch of obviously charming having a good time group of girls say in any other european country these guys are definitely taking any chance they can get (not all of course - a lot of it of course depends on the needs factor) but a huge percentage of the male population do not have much of a vocation or great way to earn an income, morocco is very difficult to get out of to see the world, tourists come with obvious freedom and money and so if they can latch on to any of that then of course they will.

what a ego booster too of course to end up with a foreign woman - night to night pretty normal for the young guys that are in the right environment eg tourism to be in regular contact with the females that come along, but to get a catch out of the country well thats the jackpot.
