| Agra | Day trips to Taj Mahal from Agra train station Posted: Wed October 10, 2007 07:59 PM UTC
Does anyone know if there is a travel desk in the Agra train station that can book you on a reliable tour to Taj Mahal and Agra sights when you arrive in the morning from Delhi? Who is the operator, where can I find this counter, what time does the tour leave, and how much is it?
I read in lonely planet that there is a tour operator, but I have no idea where to find it. Thanks very much for your help! |

Why use a tour operator? Just hire a taxi for the day...

Once you arrive in Agra, you will be quite able to choose from a variety of operators. The train station-based one is easy to find and might be a little bit more expensive than some options (like taking a taxi, as above). Times are always flexible in India so you'll have no option making your way.
As an aside, I am a big advocate for early morning/dawn at the Taj. If there's a way you can stay overnight, it's really worth it.

i just returned from agra / taj mahal. i paid 300 rupees to hire a tuk-tuk driver for 2 days. he was honest, and carried a book a travelers giving him a stamp of approval. his name was shabbu. if you can find him - go to the shant lodge and ask the guy at the front desk to call him, he's worth it!
