Would like to find out what would be the most practical and cost effective way to get to my hotel, Sofitel Chateau de Versailles from the airport (Charles de Gaulle)??

Via taxi (approximately how much wld it cost)? Airport shuttle? Train?


I know that one way would be to take the RER.
- Have been trying to find a map to see the location of the RER station nearest the hotel but in vain.. Can anyone help?
- How long does the journey take?
- How much does it cost?

Are there any airport shuttles that goes to the Sofitel Chateau de Versailles direct? Most of those I found online travels within the postal code 75 but Versailles is 78...

With out knowing your arrival time and date, it will be almost impossible to advise exactly what options are available. One possible itinerary is to take the Air France bus to Montparnasse, then the train from there to Versailles-Chantiers, and finally a bus to the Prefecture (very near your hotel). Transportation time is about 2 hours. Antoher possibility is RER B from the airport to St. Michel, RER C to Versailles. There is the possibility of boarding the wrong RER C train as the westbound line splits after Trocadero so I should plan the route well. Just a guess but I should speculate the cost at around 30 euros.

Taxi cost from CDG to Paris are generally 50-60 euros but you are going quite a distance from the city center so I should speculate a taxi to your hotel might cost 3-4 times the above estimate.

You could try many of the shuttle services but I seldom use them.

If I were you, I should contact the hotel and ask what they recommend as to the most reasonable travel options.
