In Madeira it's not easy to get cheap hotels or hostels. The less you can get is aroud E50 per night. Camping is fordiden in Madeira since Porto Moniz camping place was closed.
Since Madeira forest is World Heritage it is forbiden to do camping. I live in Madeira, if you need any other help just say something! :)))

Hello,
Thanks for your reaction. On La Gomera I traveled on the same way. There people who rented rooms were waiting by the buststop to " sell" you the room they hed. I think there must be some peolple how have that idea on MAdeira. Something like B&B. Otherwise it is a good buisniss to start. We want to change places every two days, so we can walk from different places on the isaland. Do you really not know any adresses from peolple how retn rooms out? Hopefully you can get some inforamtion for me!! Does the touristinformation know something about this?????????? I hope so otherwise it wil be a holiday which is to expensive for our butged. Is it really forbidden to camp in the wild? Because I read it in all the guidebooks. Hope to hear from you!! Or from other people. Greetings: Astrid

If anyone has any info on either of the above topics please e-mail me on competent7@yahoo.co.uk.
