| Reykjavík | Visiting Rekyavik for three days. Posted: Sat October 6, 2007 11:57 AM UTC
Hi, I'm thinking of travelling to Rekyavik for three days in mid-October. I think the landscape looks beautiful. I was wondering whether three days would be enough to do some quick day tours outside of the city?

Yes, the standard hotels in Reykjavik have arrangements with tour operators who can take you to various well-known scenic wonders within reasonable distance of the city. The tourism "infrastructure" in Iceland is very well-developed; tourism is gradually replacing fishing as the mainstay of the economy.
In addition, I enjoyed making time to stop at the famous "Blue Lagoon" spa on my way to the airport before leaving the island.

HI! Anita:
Yes, depending on your budgets, you can certainly get some sights tucked under your belt. Drop by the tourist info office and sign up for day-yours to places such as The Golden Circle or simply (pay) and do a skyward flight over the city and surrounds. And agree with the previous VTer, don't miss The Blue Lagoon. There are tours going to the place but you can make it there DIY too.

Absolutely! The day tours are a lot of fun and you'll meet a ton of cool people from all over. Check out the day tours offered by Iceland Excursions (www.icelandexcursions.is) and Reykjavik Excursions (www.re.is). These 2 companies are the most popular - you will see their tour vans all over Reykjavik!
Of course you must do the Golden Circle tour! As other posters suggested, the Blue Lagoon is a must-see as well. <-- There are day tours offered by the above tour companies which combine a trip to the Blue Lagoon with horseback riding or whale watching so that you can experience as many activities as possible. If you already have your hotel arranged, when you book your day tours let the tour company know the hotel you'll be staying at and they can provide complimentary pick-up and drop-off. Have fun!! :)
