Vancouver's Best Cheap Eats
Posted: Sat October 6, 2007 04:53 AM UTC
Vancouver Magazine has just published a list of 20 "Cheap Eats" - relatively inexpensive restaurants. You can view the complete list here: http://www.vanmag.com/restaurants/07oct/Cheapeats.shtml

I've tried Shabusen and Cafe Panini before, but none of the other ones. I'd be curious to hear from others who have tried one or more and what you think of them.

been to a few places, really liking the social butcher shop these days and the sandwiches are great value, the only place i disagree about is kaplan's, although i've only been to alberni location which is find kind of expensive for what you get

I could write a lot about most but these places, most are really not cheap and some are not that good.
Where is Chong Quing?

Shabusen, always called 'Shab' by my old colleagues who'd organize all-you-can-eat parties there. Never been a huge fan and have never felt the need to go back there, but it was a part of the fabric of my old work place.

I've still been meaning to check out Go Fish.

East is East in Kitsilano is one of my favourites, and though I have no car at the moment, I still will go out of my way to eat there. Very cozy, intimate environment and tasty food, especially the smoothies! (The Nutty Gypsy smoothie with hazelnut, cardamom, pistachio and chocolate is the best!)

Glowbal, I've only been to once, but "cheap eats"? Gimme a break! I've never rushed back there, simply because I never found it good value.

Quite agree that most of those places aren't cheap at all-plus Kaplan's Oak St location is a dirty smelly dump if ever there was one.
