to answer your question, saftey is high, but as any tourist you need to take normal precautions...

some or the main tour companies are, Hemtours, jetwings travels, forbes and walkers, aitken spence tours. please google these and see if you like them... colombo tours may be cheaper on your own.

day trip to kandy is ok on a weekday, but you need to avoid colombo rush hrs' of 7.30am-9.00am and 5.00pm -7.30pm ...........

best might be a leave at 10.00 am and return next day.........

Hi, A late reply, Security in the city is high and it is totally safe. Places like Kandy are ultra safe, you don't have to worry about a thing.
- You could travel to Kandy and back in a day but it will be preferable if you could stay overnight.
- You will have to get a visit visa.
- As for a travel company, try www.colombotravelbureau.com they are good and they might be able to assist you if you haven't already finalised your trip.

Cheers.

Hi,

Sri lanka is safe to travel excluding North and East area.

There are lots of tour companies and you can use 3 wheelers for short tours and Intercity express buses also available for some cities with air conditioning.

Pick FREE accomodation guide at the tourism office counter at CMB airport

I think you hold passport of Chile. Most nationalities can visit sri lanka without visa. But I'm not sure about Chile according to the Immigration office ( http://www.immigration.gov.lk/html/visa/fees.html#SATOP )

You can contact any embassy or consulate closer to you.

If you need more help, please let me know.

Thanks

Oscar
