| San Antonio | unique and fun things to do Posted: Thu October 4, 2007 02:23 PM UTC
My husband and I thinking of going to San Antonio this weekend. Being native Texans we have been many, many times already. However, we have only ever done the same old things (riverwalk, The Alamo...etc). I'm looking for other suggestions of things that we may have never done before... Any ideas will help!! Thanks!

If your looking for historic sites and such, you can take the mission trail and see all of the old Spanish missions that were built along the San Antonio river. The Alamo is the one farthest north, and 4 other missions are south of there.
Another fun thing to do is go to the drive-in movie. The Mission 4 drive-in is at 3100 Roosevelt Ave. near the mission San Jose. There are tons of small, privately owned restaurants all over town that are more authentic, and much better than anything you'll find downtown. Just get out and explore. If you want a change of pace for night life, St. Mary's St. is a hip entertainment district with many different bars. Have fun, Marc

I second the Mission Trail as a great option to see a very authentic corner of Texas history.

Visit the Spanish Governor's House (near the Cathedral)- it's charming. Mission San Jose has a Mariachi Mass at 12 on Sunday - great singing and music.
The Botanic Gardens are beautiful, well worth a visit. leyle
