Isle of Skye Weather travelling to Skye at end of January
Posted: Wed October 3, 2007 11:27 PM UTC
Me and a few friends are meeting in Skye and staying over for one night on January 26th. Just wondering as we are coming from all different parts of Scotland what the weather is usually like for driving conditions at this time of year? would you advise going another time?? thanks

You have chosen to remain incognito and not to tell us exactly where you will be travelling from - that obviously makes it more likely that you will receive a less helpful answer.
Do you plan to be on Skye on Burns Night - often celebrated both on the 25th and 26th?.
However as you will all be travelling from "different" parts of Scotland you will know that it is not possible to predict, with any certainty, what the weather will be like on those dates in 2008.I suggest you keep an eye on local and BBC weather forecasts at the time.

in addition to the very sound words from Ranger49, you should be prepared for snow and icy road conditions, even if the weather service says otherwise. I got snowed in in Glencoe over Easter 2006. A car without snow tyres is not a safe transport vehicle in such circumstances IMO.

kirstyb 1230 has not, apparently, even bothered to come back online to look for replies since posting the original question over 3 weeks ago, so can't be all that interested in having a reply.
Perhaps just another timewaster?

Thanks for the advise, I had in fact logged in numerous times to find what replies were left for me. I shall not be using this site again as I find it quite offensive to be called a timewaster when I have done nothing to deserve that label. Ranger you are a very rude person, I shall look for information on another site from now on. If you want to improve membership keep rude uncalled for opinions to yourself

Hello Kirstyb. I apologise that my remarks caused you upset - they were not intended to. I do assure you that before my post of 26 October I did check your profile for the date of your last log-in - which was shown as 3 Oct.- the date on which your Question was Posted. It therefore did appear that over three weeks had gone by without any response from you to the points made by VT members. That can be frustrating for members who spend time trying to answer questions on the Forum.
I hope you will reconsider your membership of this Forum. It really is is one of the most helpful of its kind and I also hope that your visit to Skye will be a great success for you and your friends.
