| Puglia | Train From Rome FCO to Lecce, Bari, Brindisi...... Posted: Wed October 3, 2007 02:57 PM UTC
Do any of the several train systems run from Fiumancino Airport in Rome to a destination in Puglia? Is it necessary to go into Rome Termini before catching the train? I'm trying to save time and the 11 euros for taking the train from FCO to Termini

Time flies. Meant to thank you post holiday but couldn't get into VT. Brain synapse separation is going to be my story. Had a wonderful time. Spent a week in Lecce. Gorgeous city and much less touristy than our other major destinations of Venice, Florence, Rome, although Bologna was also lovely. We didn't hear an American accent for the four days we were in Bologna. In transit Spanish and Italian travelers were most helpful too. Only bad experience was with a cabbie in Florence who knew we were under the gun to make our train connection to Rome-We'd been waiting at the wrong train station. I know he drove us around town until it was just short of train's departure-Partner had bought non-refundable tickets in advance from a travel agent!-So much for economy-We arrived 5 minutes before departure and cabbie flipped the meter from 9.45 euros to 25.45 euros! Not even time for an argument at that point. Stewed about that for a few minutes and then had to let it go. But thank you again.

i loved lecce very much - an enchanting small city - and we only spent 4 hours in Bologna on our last tripbut really liked the vibe
i didn't know there were two train stations in Florence - i know Verona is tricky that way - sorry you had a bad one - but that's travel for you
