Botswana Travel Forum

Hi!
I happen to have the opportunity to go to Botswana for a week when I'm in Johannesburg before I go home. But it's in the end of January and I'm a bit worried about the weather. I would like to go to the Okavango Delta and to Chobe NP and end in Victoria Falls before I fly back to Jo'burg. I'm not so much worried about the heat, but more about the rain. Is it something to worry about? Or is it still possible to have a nice trip through Botwana despite the weather?

I went to the Victoria Falls in early February this year, so the weather conditions will probably be about the same as during your trip.

I found that the heat built up during the day and by mid-afternoon there was a big thunderstorm with lots of rain. It lasted about 30 minutes or so (occasionally a bit longer) and then passed on. That cleared the air and then the sun came back out again.

It sounds like it's doable, but I'm a bit worried about the condition of the roads during wet season.
Does anyone know about Chobe NP in January?
Can anyone compare Okavango in wet and dry season?
