Could anybody recommend a cheap hotel near the Sidi Gaber station in Alexandria? I will need it just for one-night sleep before leaving for Siwa in the morning.

That friendly EgyptAir postponed my flight from Sharm once again (from original 10am. to 8.10pm. now !!!) so I just need to hole up somewhere near the bus departure point. Thanks.

I think that the bus station in Alex is no longer at Sidi Gaber. Don't know where it is now apart from costing 10LE by taxi from the centre....if you're lucky.

if the bus departure point is in Sidi Gaber,I recommend your to use Blue Reivierra Guest house,its very cheap,exactly front of the sea,and 5 min by taxi to the station (dont give more than 2.50L.E).

According to all internet sources the Siwa bus (West Delta) departure point should be next the Sidi Gaber tarin station. But if it is not true any more I would surely like to know ...

I'd be interested as well. When I got a taxi to thebus station to go to Siwa, the taxi driver seemed to be telling me that the bus station wasn't at Sidi Gaber.
The google earth (love it!) image shows what looks like a bus station at Sidi Gaber but Google Earth images are often quite old (it shows Bristol's bus station still under constrction) & it doesn't look like the bus station I remember

The bus station is right behind the Sidi Gaber train station - but is mostly known to be in the area known as Smouha.

Oh well, taxi drivers, do they ever tell a tourist the truth :-[

The bus station is moved from Sidi Gaber area to (El-Mawaaf El-Geded) area.which is a big bus,microbus station in Alexandria.
Sidi Gaber is not anymore a bus station its just a train station,be sure of my words because I simply live 2 minutes away from Sidi Gaber.
In Sidi Gaber only El-Gouna bus station to Sharm El-shiekh,

Yep. I can second the move of Alexandria bus station to Moharrem Bay area. I have found hard way.

You say you live near the Sidi Gaber train station? I am looking for a hospital near there, the hospital should be an older one (at least 60 years) and was once across the street from a horse racing place. Do you know what hospital this is?
